LU340 Apprentice Takes Multiple Awards at Western States Electrical Contest

Each year, Locals from across the western U.S. send participants to compete in the Western States Electrical Contest, a one-day grueling test of skill and knowledge. This year, Local 340 sent our very own James Moore, a recently graduated apprentice, to show off his abilities. In the end, James took home three awards and accomplished a feat never before seen in Local 340.

“It’s awesome, it’s the best we’ve ever done,” says Jacob Smith, fifth year instructor, who accompanied James to Redmond, Oregon for the contest. “He’s one of the nicest guys I’ve ever met. He took the competition seriously to represent our Local and I couldn’t be prouder of how he did.”

James took home first prize for motor control drawing and residential wiring and took 3rd place overall. Until now, LU340 had never had an apprentice on the dais.

The Sacramento JATC wishes to offer a hearty congratulations to James for a job well done, both representing himself and our Local brilliantly.
