About our Training Center

The Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee ( JATC ) enters the 21st century with 40 years of experience that prepares the IBEW and NECA to meet the challenges of the organized electrical industry. The JATC, the educational force of the NECA/IBEW 340, oversees the Sacramento Electrical Apprenticeship program. The program employs professionally certified instructors who are experts in various skills within the trade. And it is one of the larger schools of its kind on the west coast. Instructors are currently teaching serveral hundred students through the combined 5 year inside wireman and 3 year residential wireman program. The primary goal of the JATC is to turn out the best trained professional electricians ready to meet the electrical workload need of the Sacramento area.

The JATC is a governed by representatives of labor ( IBEW Local Union 340 ) and management ( Greater Sacramento Chapter of NECA ). A consultant from the Division of Apprenticeship standards (State of California) provides policy guidance to the JATC as does the Training Director who leads the day-to-day operations of the Training Center. Our 16,000 square foot training center contains 6 classrooms, 1 computer lab with 12 learning stations, 1 instrumentation lab, welding lab, a large conduit bending and motor control lab, and an outdoor training mock up area along with administrative offices. Our hands-on training is the hallmark feature of the apprentice program along with the knowledge of the "why's" of the trade.
